Jimmy Carter and the 1976 New Hampshire Presidential campaign– In 1975 Governor Jimmy Carter began his quest to become the 39th President of the United States.  During his campaign Carter visited New Hampshire many times including the famous visit to Hooksett’ Robie country store where lore has it that  Mr. Robie , who was hard of hearing, when introduced to Mr. Carter, quipped ” Jimmy who” . With that the journey of Jimmy Carter from Governor to President  of the United States.  With the 40th anniversary approaching, the Hooksett Historical Society will hold a Special March 26,2015 meeting which will include UNH Professor Dante Scala and  Representative Katherine Rogers, who served on the Carter Campaign, who will speak about the Presidential campaign and its New Hampshire connections The Meeting will be held at 630 at the Hooksett Public Library, with a brief business meeting proceeding the program
